Meet Monique Davidson - Chief Executive CHBDC

Monique Davidson commenced her role with Central Hawke's Bay District Council in June 2017, after being appointed the youngest Chief Executive in local government. Monique arrived with a strong emphasis from Councillors on developing an engaged and people-friendly council business with a ‘can-do’ attitude”.

Prior to being appointed the Chief Executive of Central Hawke’s Bay District Council, Monique was the Group Manager for Customer and Community Services at Horowhenua District Council, responsible for a large portfolio covering community services including parks, property and libraries, and also including governance, communications and customer and regulatory services. The role also covered the responsibilities of Deputy Chief Executive. Monique holds a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts from Victoria University, Wellington. She is a member of the Local Government New Zealand Governance and Strategy Advisory Group.

Monique’s current priorities include:

> Promoting smart growth
> Attracting and enabling business success
> Strengthening our district and community identity
> Protecting and promoting our unique landscape
> Planning for tomorrow to future-proof Central Hawke’s Bay

Monique is passionate about driving sustainable social and economic transformation in communities and sees the Matariki - Hawke's Bay Regional Economic Development and Social Inclusion strategies as a pivotal platform to allow that.

“The more we can work together as a region, the more innovative we can be so that we can enhance prosperity for the people that we serve.”
